Simon Allford for Marrkt

A Day with Simon Allford

Conversations on Design, Architecture, and Sheffield Wednesday.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to shoot Simon Allford at his home in Bloomsbury for Marrkt. As someone who has always held a fascination for property and design, this experience was a true delight.

My love for architecture was kindled during my school days, where I learned about Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic 'Falling Water.'

Living in London, I often found myself strolling past beautifully renovated properties, peeking through temporary hoardings.

A telltale sign of a legitimate project? A RIBA stamp on the hoardings.

In 2019, Simon Allford, a founding partner of the prestigious Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Architects, reached the pinnacle of British architecture by being elected President of RIBA. This was no small feat, and I was fortunate enough to delve into the mind of this architectural visionary during our visit.

Together with Lewis Hull, we were welcomed into Simon's captivating home. Our conversation covered a wide range of topics, from design philosophies and family heirlooms to discussing products and even Simon’s affinity for Sheffield Wednesday.
