Vans x Nigel Cabourn AW23

In a nod to the 1992 film 'White Men Can't Jump,' Nigel Cabourn and I teamed up for a unique shoot in Brighton for Vault by Vans. The concept took us to the beachside basketball court for a day of fashion and storytelling.

Inspired by the iconic 1992 film 'White Men Can't Jump,' known for featuring Nigel Cabourn jerseys, I was commissioned to shoot for Vault by Vans. For Nigel Cabourn, returning to Brighton for this shoot was a pilgrimage—an emotional experience marking the end of his collaborations with Vans. Brighton became the perfect place as it holds personal significance.

Brighton, known for its picturesque landscapes, provided the ideal backdrop for our outdoor shoot. To add authenticity to the shoot, I reached out to a local women's basketball team ‘Brighton Phoenix Flames’, inviting them to be a part of this collaboration. The night before our shoot in Brighton, we did a recce at the basketball court on the beach and it was filled with people playing on the court. Nigel and I invited them to be extras for our shoot the next day, adding an unexpected but great touch to the shoot.

As the sun set over the Brighton basketball court, we wrapped up a shoot that exceeded our expectations.
